Vapac VE05-1P Virtuoso Electrode Boiler
Important notice to installers
Carefully read these instructions before installation of the room distribution unit (RDU) and follow the processes explained by the manufacturer. These instructions are available in various other languages as well as English.

- This installation manual covers the Room Distribution Unit only. The associated Vapac Virtuoso VE05 or VE09 Humidifier (VE05-1P, VE09-1P, VE09-3P) must be installed and commissioned fully in accordance with the separate humidifier installation manual (document number D301474) prior to the installation of the room distribution unit.
- Please read this document carefully before commencing installation, commissioning and/or servicing. Leave it with the end user . site agent to be placed in their premises technical file after installation.
- Improper installation, adjustment, alteration, service, or maintenance can cause property damage, injury, or death. Read the installation, operation, and maintenance instructions thoroughly before installing or servicing this equipment.
- Before commencing any works on the RDU, including maintenance, turn off the water supply to the humidifier, drain the humidifier cylinder, switch off the electrical supply to the humidifier and allow the humidifier cylinder(s) and the RDU to cool.
- Never leave water in the humidifier steam cylinder when the appliance is not in use; always drain it fully.
- Symbol IEC 60417-5597 (2002-10) is used on the unit to indicate that it operates with hot water vapour (steam). Take extra care when the humidifier is in use to avoid scalding and burns.
Introduction
The Room Distribution Unit (RDU) is designed to be mounted directly on top of a Vapac Virtuoso Steam Humidifier model VE05-1P, VE09-1P or VE09-3P. The RDU essentially consists of a stainless steel manifold connected to the steam outlet of the humidifier via a steam hose and a number of axial fans contained in a metal box. The steam manifold distributes steam from the humidifier evenly across the face of the fans, which then blow the steam into the conditioned space for absorption into the surrounding air. Note that the fans will only run when the humidifier is producing steam.
Please keep this manual in a safe place, where it can be immediately accessed.
If the equipment is passed on to a new owner / operator, this manual must be passed on to them too. If this manual should be misplaced, please contact Vapac for a replacement.
Do not permit the area around the humidifier and RDU to become damp or wet.
If dampness does occur, turn the output of the humidifier down. If the humidifier output volume cannot be turned down, use the humidifier intermittently. Do not allow absorbent materials, such as carpeting, curtains, drapes, or tablecloths, to become damp.
Be aware that high humidity levels may encourage the growth of biological organisms in the environment.
Clearances and dimensions
A 1000mm clearance must be allowed around the front, sides and bottom of the Vapac Humidifier as shown in figure 1 below. The minimum distance from the RDU to the ceiling is shown in table 1 below.

The following accessories are supplied with the RDU:-
- Instruction manual (this document)
- Fitting template
- 3 off wing nuts, metal washers and 6 off white plastic spacers
- Steam hose
- 2 off steam hose clips
Installation
With the VE05 or VE09 humidifier correctly mounted on the wall, installed, commissioned and set to work in accordance with the humidifier installation manual:-
- Unpack the RDU, ensuring that all parts and documents are removed prior to discarding the packaging.
- Electrically isolate the Vapac Unit and remove the front cover of the humidifier.
- Place the fitting template on top of the Vapac Unit so that the front of the template is aligned with the front of the humidifier.
- Drill 3 x 10mm holes into the top of the Vapac Unit casing in the positions shown on the template.
Ensure swarf caused by drilling is prevented from entering the humidifier. - Remove the fitting template.
- Place the RDU on top of the Vapac unit, lining up the RDU steam inlet and the three fixing studs in the previously drilled holes. Ensure two white plastic spacers are inserted onto each of the fixing studs between the RDU and the humidifier.
- Secure the RDU in place from inside the Vapac Unit using the three wing nuts and metal washer supplied.
- Connect the steam hose between the cylinder outlet and the RDU steam inlet, securing each end of the hose with the hose clips provided.
- Connect the electrical supply for the RDU fans to the RDU terminals in the Vapac Unit. The cables for the electrical supply exit the RDU from a cable gland on the rear panel, lower left corner. The cables should be run along the side of the Vapac Unit to enter the unit through one of the cable knockouts on the base of the unit for final connection to the RDU terminals.
- Replace the Vapac Unit cover.
- Reinstate the electrical supply to the Vapac Unit.
Maintenance
The following items should be checked on an annual basis:-
- Tightness of all RDU fixings.
- Condition of steam hose.
- Tightness of steam hose connection clips.
- Security of electrical connections.
- Operation of RDU fans; if a fan has failed it should be replaced immediately as it will affect the performance of the RDU. The exploded view on page 6 following shows the part number for the fans.
- Use a wet cloth to remove any scale and dust accumulation at the manifold outlets.
- Clean the RDU casing with a wet cloth and vacuum.
- Check the RDU and humidifier for signs of water leakage, stains and calcium deposits.
Any fault(s) found should be rectified immediately.
