Troubleshooting
If your solar light will not turn on, the most common issue is the battery. It could take up to five days for a new solar unit to cycle to full capacity. Winter months will affect this cycle time as well, if installed in the middle of winter. To test a solar unit, remove the rechargeable batteries and replace them with standard alkaline batteries. Cover the entire solar collector to test the unit. If the unit lights up, your unit requires the batteries to be replaced.
Battery replacement is required every 1-2 years and is stated in the user manual and copied below.
(Battery replacement is approximately 1-2 years)
- Twist the solar lid counter clockwise to remove from cap base as shown (fig.1).
- Replace the battery with a new AA size 1.2 V Ni-MH rechargeable battery. Be sure to insert the battery in the proper direction.
- Twist the lid back into place.
- Allow the fixture to receive a full 24 hours of sunlight to allow the rechargeable battery to reach maximum capacity.
