Product Usage Instructions

Getting Started:

  1. Read and understand the included Important SafetyInstructions.
  2. Ensure your amplifier’s Power switch is off before making any connections.
  3. Connect your Venture speaker cabinet(s) to your amplifier as illustrated in the manual.
  4. Insert the included line cord securely into the amplifier’s IEC connector and plug it into a grounded AC outlet.
  5. Connect an instrument to the amplifier’s Input jack using a1/4″ (shielded) instrument cable.
  6. Turn the amplifier on by flipping the Power switch to On.
  7. Adjust the Volume knob to your preferred level while playing the instrument.
  8. Tweak EQ knobs and switches to your taste.

Rear Panel Options:

The rear panel of Venture speaker cabinets includes the following features:

  1. High Frequency Horn Level Control / Attenuator: Allows adjustment of the high-frequency compression driver’s level with a three-position switch (-6 dB, 0 dB, or Off).
  2. Speaker Input Jacks: Wired in parallel; ensure total speaker impedance load is 4 Ohms or greater when connecting multiple cabinets to the amplifier.
  3. Note: Always use matched impedance speaker cabinets when connecting more than one cabinet to your amplifier.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

  • Q: Can I connect two different impedance speaker cabinets in parallel?
A: It is recommended to use matched impedance speaker cabinets when connecting more than one cabinet to your amplifier to avoid potential issues with impedance loads.
  • Q: Where can I find additional resources for setting up my Venture speaker cabinet with an amplifier?
A: Please refer to the Ampeg Venture V3/V7/V12 Amplifiers Quick Start Guide available at ampeg.com/support/manuals/, or consult the user documentation for your specific amplifier model for detailed setup instructions.
  • Q: What is the purpose of the High-Frequency Attenuator on the rear panel?
A: The High-Frequency Attenuator allows you to adjust the level of the high-frequency compression driver to suit your preferences, with options for -6 dB, 0 dB, or bypassing it completely (Off).

Hookup Examples

  • More than one Venture VB-88 speaker cabinet should not be connected to a Venture amplifier in a parallel configuration.
  • The following examples are parallel connections which will result in a 2 Ohm total load with two VB-88 cabinets. All other
  • Venture speaker cabinet models can be connected in parallel—see “Rear Panel Descriptions” on page 4.
  • Use same impedance cabinets when using more than one cabinet in daisy-chain or parallel setups.
  • Use unshielded speaker cables for all connections between your amplifier and Venture speaker cabinets.

Parallel Setup
The Venture V7 and V12 amplifiers offer two Speaker Out jacks, allowing for the following parallel configuration. A parallel configuration is possible with the Venture V3 amplifier by using the Daisy-Chain setup shown aboveAmpeg-VB-112-Venture-Speaker-Cabinets-fig- (4)

Getting Started

Please follow these steps to begin using a Venture speaker cabinet with your amplifier.

  1. Read and understand the included Important Safety Instructions.
  2. Make sure your amplifier’s Power switch is off before making any connections. Connect your Venture speaker cabinet(s) to your amplifier as illustrated on the preceding page.
  3. Insert the included line cord securely into the amplifier’s IEC connector. Plug the line cord into a grounded AC outlet. The amplifier will accept the appropriate voltage as indicated on the rear panel.
  4. Connect an instrument to the amplifier’s Input jack with a 1/4″ (shielded) instrument cable.
  5. With all controls fully off, turn the amplifier on by flipping the Power switch to “On.”
  6. While playing the instrument, adjust the Volume knob to the preferred level.
  7. Adjust the EQ knobs and switches to taste.

Rear Panel Descriptions

The rear panel features and following descriptions are common for all Venture speaker cabinets, other than where noted.

  1. High Frequency Horn Level Control / Attenuator: All Venture cabs include a high frequency compression driver. The High-Frequency Attenuator three-position switch allows you to adjust the driver’s level (-6 dB or 0 dB) or bypass it (Off).
  2. Speaker Inputs: All Venture cabinets include two Neutrik® speakON® – 1/4″ combination jacks. It is preferred to use the speakON cable connection between your amplifier and cabinet, where possible, due to the secure locking connection and superior high-current, low-noise performance. You can optionally use a standard unshielded, 1/4″ TS cable connection. Connect the speaker-level output of your amplifier to the cabinet’s Speaker Input jack. Either of the cabinet’s jacks may be used as a single input or as a “thru” connection to connect an additional cabinet.
The two Speaker Input jacks are wired in parallel.* If you’re connecting thru to a second cabinet, make sure the total speaker impedance load is 4 Ohms or greater. For example, using a parallel connection, you could connect two 8 Ohm speaker cabinets, resulting in a 4 Ohm total load. But you should not connect two 4 Ohm cabinets in parallel, since it results in a 2 Ohm total load.

NOTE: Always use matched impedance speaker cabinets when using more than one cabinet connected to your amplifier.
Please also see the Ampeg Venture V3/V7/V12 Amplifiers Quick Start Guide, available at ampeg.com/support/manuals/, or the user documentation for your amplifier that you are connecting to a Venture speaker cabinet.
